The stroke ladder

Every bet is worth strokes based on its frozen odds — the hundreds bracket the number sits in. Same ladder for favorites and dogs, fixed across every league.

¹ +100 to +199 on the dog side, −101 to −199 on the favorite side. The math, if you want it: strokes = floor(|odds| / 100) — longer shots keep climbing (a +520 dog is 5 strokes), but between the ace floor and the double-par cap, 1–4 covers nearly everything you’ll ever card.

Three ways a hole goes

On a hole with par P — in order of how good the group chat feels about it:

1

Your dog hits

Under par by the dog’s strokes. Even if the favorite also hit, the underdog governs. The floor is 1 — an ace. It can’t go lower.

Par 3 · +400 dog hits
3 − 4 → floored at 1 Ace.
4

Dog misses, favorite hits

You make par. The favorite is your safety net — that’s all it ever does.

Par 4 · dog misses, −150 fav hits
You card a 4. Walk to the next tee.
5

Both miss

Over par by the favorite’s strokes, capped at double the hole’s parleague setting — par 3 tops out at 6, par 4 at 8, par 5 at 10.

Par 3 · −250 fav, both miss
3 + 2 = 5 Double bogey.

When a bet voids

Pushes, voids, cancellations — you grade on the surviving leg, and you're never punished for an event outside your control.

The fine print

i

A round is nine holes.

Your commissioner lines up nine upcoming real games, ordered 1–9, and maps them to a real 9-hole stretch — each hole borrows that course’s par. Par is the only tie to the real course. Rounds are opt-in: join before the first event tees off. Scores reset every round; every finished round lives in the record book for good.

ii

Two picks, one rule.

One favorite (negative odds), one underdog (positive odds), on that hole’s game — moneylines, spreads, totals, props. They can’t be opposite sides of the same outcome.

iii

Your odds freeze when you lock.

The app snapshots your American odds at lock and scores off that number forever. Line moves after you lock change nothing — in your favor or against.

iv

The window.

Picks open about 72 hours before the eventleague setting and close at start time. No edits after close. Your picks are always visible to you; everyone else’s stay sealed until they lock. No peeking.

v

Miss a pick, take a double.

Opted in but never locked a ticket before the event started? That hole is a double bogey — par + 2league setting. The worst bet in the game is no bet.

vi

Scores post when it’s official.

Holes settle only once the event is finalized — no grading off live numbers that might still be corrected.

vii

Winning the round — and ties.

After nine holes, lowest total wins and goes in the book. A tie at the top goes to sudden deathleague setting: everyone else’s totals are locked and final; only the tied players continue. The commissioner adds one extra event at a time — hole 10, 11, … — each with its own par, scored on its own (not added to the total). Lowest score on the playoff hole takes it; anyone still tied plays on until someone wins outright.

Items marked league setting are the house defaults — your commissioner can tune them per league from the Clubhouse’s Ground rules page, between rounds.
